When it comes to sports and improving your game, it is always best to look at your sport’s most successful athletes to discover ways to sharpen your competitive edge. Regardless of your sport, there are a few things that the top players do to ensure that they are always performing at their best. Some professional athletes believe in hitting a certain number of practice shots before a game, pre-game rituals, or even eating the same meal before every competition. However, the one thing that separates some of the greatest athletes of all times is a competitive advantage you may not expect… a chiropractor. Don’t believe us? It’s okay; these famous professional athletes are more than happy to tell you themselves.
“I’ve been going to a Chiropractor for as long as I can remember. It is as important to my training as the practice of my swing.” – Tiger Woods
There is no doubt that Eldrick “Tiger” Woods is considered one of golf’s greatest players of all time, as well as one of the highest-paid athletes in the world. Tiger Woods won his first major, the 1997 Masters, at just 21 years old. In fact, he won it by 12 strokes and ultimately pocketed over $486,000 in winnings. What was one of his big competitive advantages? Believe it or not, he credited chiropractic care for a good portion of his success. His overall career included 14 Major Championship wins, 18 World Golf Championship wins, and even being ranked 1st for a total of 10 PGA Tours.
“Most injuries require chiropractic care. It works better for me than anything else.” – Jerry Rice
Jerry Rice is a retired football wide receiver who got to play 20 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Even though he spent most of his career playing for the San Francisco 49ers, he also played for the Oakland Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks as well. (The Seahawks are Dr. Halsy’s favorite NFL team!) He was the 1987 season NFL Most Valuable Player and has won three Super Bowls. Not to mention he has held over 14 NFL records for receiving, yards, and even touchdowns. It’s no doubt he is considered one of football’s greatest!
“I do believe in chiropractic. I found that going to my chiropractor three times a week helps my performance.” – Evander Holyfield
Evander Holyfield is known as “The Real Deal” for a reason, and it’s not because he won a bronze medal representing the United States in the 1984 Olympics at just 20 years old. It’s because he was not only the undisputed champion in the cruiserweight boxing division, but he was also the undisputed champion of the heavyweight division as well! In fact, he is the first and only boxer in history to ever achieve that. More than 66% of his career wins were by knockout! Out of 57 career professional boxing fights, Evander won 44, lost 10, had two draws, and one no contest.
“I didn’t know how much I could improve until I started seeing a chiropractor. Since I’ve been in chiropractic, I’ve improved by leaps and bounds both mentally and physically.” – Michael Jordan
Regardless of who their team is, most NBA fans would agree that Michael Jordan was the best player to ever step foot on a basketball court. Jordan’s professional career consisted of 15 years in the National Basketball League. After a surprising retirement from the Chicago Bulls in 1992, Jordan played two seasons with the Minor League Baseball before returning to the NBA. Jordan would go on to retired again in 1999. In early 2000, he becomes part-owner and President of Basketball Operations at the Washington Wizards. Not even nine months later Jordan returned to the NBA again, this time playing for the team he now owned. During his eventful NBA career, Michael Jordan started 1,039 of the 1,072 games that he played, won six NBA Championships, holds an NBA career record for Points Per Game, and has won over 105 awards.
